- After Bertha's death in 1910, her heir inherited her land.
- In 1935 her sons, Honore and Potter Jr., donated the Meadow Sweet Pasture Ranch, which is now known as Myakka State Park. - In 1950 Osprey Point was opened to the public by Palmers heir. - In 1959 her Grandson, Gordon Palmer, sponsored a three year excavation by Ripley P. Bullen from the burial - In 1976, became the first listing in the National Register of Historic Places. - 1980- 30 Acres of the National Register site was donated to the Gulf Coast Heritage Association (Now known as Historic Spanish Point). - 1982- Historic Spanish Point opened to the Public. Restoration: 1983-1984- Guptill House Restored 1986- Mary's Chapel reconstructed 1988- Guptill House kitchen wing restored, Pergola restored, and Point Cottage Renovated. 1989- Sunken Garden Restored, second floor of Guptill House restored. 1990- Jungle Walk and Duchene Lawn restored, Citrus Packinghouse and Cock's Footbridge reconstructed. 1992- Window to the Past archaeological exhibition opened. 1996- Visitors Center at Osprey School opened. 2000- Guptill Boatyard constructed, Sharpie Lizzie G launched. 2004- Butterfly garden installed. 2005- White Cottage Renovated. 2006- Motor launch Magic launched. |
